Buses from London to Edinburgh are run by National Express and go from London’s Victoria Coach Station to St Andrew’s Square in Edinburgh. On weekdays, there are five in twenty-four hours (two day and three night). Travel time varies from less than nine hours to a frightening twenty hours – including two very long stops. For the return journey, three buses leave Edinburgh for London in twenty-four hours (two day and one night).

There is a wide range of fares. Cheapest of all is the National Express Funfare, which costs just £12 each way. Return fares range from £36.50 to £79.80, more expensive tickets offering more flexibility. Naturally, the cheaper ones are harder to find, and require advance planning. Concessionary fares are available for the over-sixties.
