The next decision is the preferred mode of travel. Some travellers choose to be part of a tour group, where they can be carried along from destination to destination. Others opt for independent travel, and take control of their own itinerary and arrangements.
Choosing the Best Travel Option
Both choices have their good and bad points. An organised tour can be an ideal way to see as much as possible in a limited time. In many cases all the key decisions are made for tour participants, from the sights they see to the food they enjoy. There’s no need to waste time figuring out how and where to change money or the best price to haggle in the market. The tour guide is there to ease any moments of confusion, and the tour group provides an ideal opportunity to meet like-minded travellers.
The potential downside is being limited to seeing pre-determined sights and perhaps only glimpsing the real destination through the bus window. There’s also the possibility some members of the group won’t get on with others on the tour and that friction will be felt at moments of tension during the journey.
